How Might We...
Ensure seamless accessibility for all users in a fast-paced scanning app
Ludex offers a powerful, AI-driven experience that helps collectors instantly scan, identify, value, and manage sports and TCG cards. Despite its popularity and robust features like “List-It” and a trending dashboard, users with visual or motor impairments may face challenges, especially during quick-scanning sessions and complex navigation. We needed to make Ludex’s fast-paced, visually intense experience more inclusive by optimizing screen reader workflows, touch targets, contrast, and platform navigation.
Additional goals included:
-
Improve screen reader friendliness during scan workflows
-
Increase visibility and clarity of notifications and confirmation states
-
Enhance contrast and adaptable layouts for low-vision users
-
Ensure touch targets and list controls are easily identifiable and tap-ready
An inclusive UX framework for instant scanning and collection management
What We Designed
We redesigned Ludex’s core user flows to be more accessible, especially focusing on scan, value lookup, and “List-It” features. Through expert accessibility reviews and user testing with assistive technology, we refined visual feedback, layered ARIA labels, improved layout adaptability, and enhanced contrast for readability. The result: a sleek user interface that works just as fast, but is also inclusive.
Key wins included:
-
Screen reader optimized: announced scan progress, results, and “List-It” confirmations
-
Enhanced contrast ratio for key buttons and labels (WCAG 2.1 AA compliant)
-
Larger, spaced touch targets in scanning and listing flows
-
Alternate text and focus states added to dashboard widgets (e.g., trending players, price reports)
-
Customizable UI scaling and dynamic layout adaptation for accessibility needs
